Chargers Drop Three-Set Decision to UNBSJ
The Crandall Chargers were unable to carry early momentum through the match, falling in straight sets to UNBSJ on Saturday afternoon at GFE. UNBSJ earned the 3–0 victory by set scores of 25–18, 25–6, and 25–12.
Crandall came out strong in the opening set, hitting .308 as a team and staying within striking distance early. The Chargers recorded 11 kills in the first frame, but UNBSJ closed the set with a late run to take control of the match.
Offensively, Francois Benoit led Crandall with seven kills and eight total points, while Noah MacDonald added three kills, one service ace, and steady play in the middle. Liam Rafferty chipped in three kills, and Payton Sanipass contributed two kills on limited attempts
At setter, Evan King and Mico Guiao combined for 18 assists, helping Crandall distribute the offense throughout the lineup. Defensively, the Chargers finished with 20 digs, with Mico Guiao, Connor Kirkland, and Noah MacDonald providing consistent coverage in the backcourt.
After a difficult second set, Crandall regrouped in the third, improving its attack efficiency to .200 and continuing to battle despite UNBSJ's strong serving and blocking presence. UNBSJ finished with 13 service aces and 14 block assists, which proved to be a major factor in the outcome.
