Chargers Sweep Dal Rams in Straight Sets
The Crandall Chargers delivered a strong all-around performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping the Dal Rams 3–0 (25–17, 25–21, 25–18) at Crandall University.
Crandall set the tone early in the opening set, building momentum behind a balanced attack and steady serve-receive. The Chargers pulled away late, closing the frame on a run to take the set 25–17.
The second set proved more competitive, with Dal pushing the pace early. Crandall remained composed, using efficient side-out play and timely serving to regain control. A late surge helped the Chargers secure the set 25–21 and take a commanding 2–0 lead.
Crandall put together its most complete set in the third, hitting .378 as a team and limiting Dal to just one attack error-free stretch. The Chargers jumped out early and never looked back, closing out the sweep with a 25–18 victory.
Liam Rafferty led the Chargers offensively with 16 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while Francois Benoit added 10 kills and a team-high five service aces. Cole Wilson contributed five kills, three aces, and strong back-row defense, while Connor Kirkland chipped in five kills and two block assists.
Setter Mico Guiao orchestrated the offense efficiently, recording 37 assists as Crandall finished with a .271 team hitting percentage. Defensively, the Chargers totaled 35 digs and six total blocks, keeping Dal off balance throughout the match.
Crandall's serving pressure proved to be a key difference, as the Chargers recorded 12 service aces and forced Dal into tough first contacts all afternoon.
The Chargers will look to build on the strong performance as they continue conference play.
