Chargers Battle but Fall in Four Sets at St. Thomas
The Crandall Chargers earned an early lead but were unable to hold off St. Thomas Sunday afternoon, falling in four sets (25–22, 22–25, 15–25, 19–25) at LB Gym.
Crandall opened the match with confidence and energy, but St. Thomas responded with a steady offensive attack and strong serving to take the final three sets.
Strong Start for Crandall
The Chargers set the tone early, taking the opening set 25–22 behind balanced offense and solid defensive play. Crandall controlled long rallies and limited St. Thomas errors down the stretch to claim the first set.
St. Thomas answered in the second, pulling away late to even the match at one set apiece with a 25–22 win. The hosts continued to build momentum in the third set, using efficient attacking to create separation and take a 25–15 advantage.
Crandall continued to compete in the fourth, staying within reach through the middle stages, but St. Thomas closed out the match with a 25–19 win.
Individual Performances
Charlie Benoit led the Chargers with 13 kills, while Jolie Allain added 10 kills and two service aces. Hailey Legacy was a standout offensively, recording 10 kills on a .529 hitting percentage and contributing two blocks.
Setter Kallie Woodworth anchored the offense with 32 assists, while Amy LeBlanc led all players with 25 digs to pace the Crandall defense.
Crandall finished the match with 36 kills and 60 digs, but St. Thomas' 50 kills and consistent offensive pressure proved decisive as the hosts claimed the match.
