Crandall Battles but Falls to UNBSJ in Straight Sets
The Crandall Chargers showed resilience and flashes of strong play but came up short in a 3–0 loss to UNBSJ on Friday afternoon at GFE. UNBSJ took the match by set scores of 25–12, 25–18, and 25–22, improving their record to 7–4, while Crandall moved to 5–7 on the season
After a challenging opening set, the Chargers began to settle into their rhythm. Crandall nearly matched UNBSJ point for point in the third set, pushing the hosts late before UNBSJ closed out the sweep.
Offensively, Jolie Allain led Crandall with a strong all-around performance, recording 11 kills on a .296 hitting percentage while adding nine digs. Rylie Regier contributed at the net with four kills, three block assists, and two service aces, finishing with 8.5 points on the day. Charlie Benoit chipped in with four points and solid defensive work, posting seven digs
At setter, Amy Le Blang directed the offense with 20 assists and added eight digs, helping Crandall find more consistency as the match progressed. Defensively, the Chargers totaled 47 digs, with Jolie Allain, Amy Le Blang, and Anna Le Blang anchoring the backcourt effort.
Crandall's strongest stretch came in the third set, where improved ball control and longer rallies allowed the Chargers to stay within striking distance until the final points. Despite the loss, the match provided valuable experience and signs of growth as the Chargers continue their season.
