MONCTON, NB - Crandall Chargers Women's Volleyball fell to the Holland Hurricanes (27-25, 25-21, 25-14) Sunday evening.
Three times over the Chargers gave up early points in the sets, and though it they would come back and make the sets competitive they were unable to close the gap in points and win a set.
Crandall showcased their best defensive net play of the year, routinely getting their hands into the hitting lanes and recording multiple blocks led by Janelle Blanchette's two solo blocks and four blocking assists. Amy LeBlang and Melora Cook would add to the defensive stats recording 8 and 7 digs, respectively.
On the attacking side of the ball the Chargers were led by their duo of hitters Blanchette and Cook, with the pair scoring 11 and 10 kills a side.
The Holland Hurricanes had a solid team outing spreading the ball around and keeping the Chargers guessing where the attacks would come from. Myah Utrosa, Sam Gerbig, and Kateia Barenaba each had 6 kills during the match.
The Hurricanes caused the Chargers problems defending the net, the team recorded 9 solo blocks along with a combined total of 17 blocking assists.
Crandall Chargers have one game remaining in the regular season as they host the UKC Blue Devils on Friday night at 7 P.M.. The Chargers are set to face off against the USTA Dragons in a wildcard playoff game, with the host team to be determined Saturday evening, check back with Chargers socials for updated game times.
