Chargers Rally Late but Fall 69–64 at UNBSJ
The Crandall Chargers battled Sunday afternoon with a hard-fought 69–64 loss to UNBSJ at the GFE.
Crandall sits at 2–14, while UNBSJ moves to 6–10 as the ACAA pushes towards postseason.
Tight First Half
The Chargers were right in the game early, battling to a 16–16 tie after the first quarter and taking a narrow 32–31 lead into halftime in a contest that featured 14 lead changes.
Crandall shared the ball effectively, finishing with 20 assists, and matched UNBSJ on the glass at 39 rebounds apiece.
Third-Quarter Swing
UNBSJ used a strong third quarter to create separation, outscoring the Chargers 22–11 to build a double-digit advantage heading into the fourth.
The Chargers struggled to find offensive rhythm in the frame, shooting just 22.2% in the third quarter, allowing the home side to take control.
Late Push Falls Short
Crandall responded with its best offensive quarter of the game in the fourth, shooting 52.9% and cutting the deficit to just 63–62 with under three minutes to play.
Charity Hearn led the Chargers with 16 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, while Lauren Lilly added 11 points and Kelsey Alward pulled down 13 rebounds.
Despite forcing 17 turnovers and keeping the game within one possession late, UNBSJ converted key free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory.
