Chargers Earn Huge Home Win Over UNBSJ
The Crandall Chargers picked up a strong home victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating UNBSJ 61–54 at Crandall University.
Crandall set the tone early, opening the game with a 16–10 first quarter and extending the lead to 37–28 at halftime behind balanced scoring and control on the glass. The Chargers built their largest lead of the game midway through the second quarter and maintained composure as UNBSJ attempted to rally in the second half.
Kelsey Alward led the Chargers with a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding 4 assists. Charity Hearn chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds, providing a strong presence inside. Tristan DesRoches delivered an efficient shooting performance, scoring 9 points on 3-for-5 shooting, including 3 three-pointers.
Crandall controlled the rebounding battle, finishing with a 51–39 edge on the glass, and knocked down 8 three-pointers to stretch the floor offensively. Despite committing 21 turnovers, the Chargers limited UNBSJ's opportunities by matching them with 13 points off turnovers.
UNBSJ closed the gap in the third quarter, but Crandall responded with timely baskets and defensive stops in the fourth, holding the visitors to 11 points in the final period to secure the win.
