Chargers Rally Late but Fall to UKC 103–93
The Crandall Chargers mounted an impressive fourth-quarter surge but couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 103–93 to UKC on Sunday afternoon at the Kingdome.
Despite shooting over 52% from the field and scoring 41 points in the fourth quarter, the Chargers were unable to erase a double-digit halftime gap.
Early Hole Proves Costly
UKC set the tone early, shooting 64% in the opening quarter and building a 25–13 lead. The home side continued to control the tempo in the second, extending the margin to 51–30 by halftime.
Crandall struggled to slow UKC's balanced attack, as Aidan MacDonald (19 points, 8 assists), Marco Cvitanovic (15 points), and Kevin Ofime (15 points) all contributed in the opening half. UKC's depth was also a factor, finishing with 32 bench points.
By the midpoint of the third quarter, UKC's lead stretched to as many as 31 points.
Del Bosco Delivers
Luca Del Bosco put together a dominant performance, finishing with a game-high 33 points on 12-of-17 shooting while adding five rebounds. Ethan Culberson added 23 points and four assists, and Caleb Rennie chipped in 13 points.
Dave Hutton contributed 10 points and five assists, while the Chargers shot 36.4% from three and 77% from the free-throw line.
Crandall was efficient offensively, shooting 52.3% from the field and scoring 40 points in the paint, but UKC's 55% shooting and rebounding advantage (37–23) proved decisive.
Furious Fourth-Quarter Push
The Chargers refused to quit. After trailing by 27 entering the fourth quarter, Crandall erupted for 41 points in the final frame, shooting nearly 70% in the period.
Del Bosco and Culberson sparked the comeback with aggressive drives and perimeter shot-making, trimming the deficit into single digits in the final minutes. However, timely free throws from UKC down the stretch halted the rally.
UKC finished with 24 points off turnovers and 14 second-chance points, key factors in maintaining separation.
