Chargers Compete Early but Fall to Mount Saint Vincent

The Crandall Chargers put together a strong opening half but were unable to keep pace down the stretch, falling 92–73 to Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday afternoon at the A. Garnet Brown Gymnasium. The loss drops Crandall to 3–7 on the season, while MSVU improved to 10–2

 

Crandall came out with confidence and efficiency, shooting over 46 percent in the first quarter and holding an early lead before Mount Saint Vincent responded. The Chargers stayed competitive through the second quarter and went into halftime trailing just 45–42, with balanced scoring and strong ball movement keeping the game within reach.

Ethan Culberson led the Chargers with 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers and adding five assists and two steals in a strong all-around performance. Luca Del Bosco added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Colby McIntosh chipped in 13 points, including three three-pointers. Dave Hutton finished with nine points and three steals, and Caleb Rennie contributed eight points off the bench

 

Mount Saint Vincent gained separation in the third quarter, outscoring Crandall 23–13 behind efficient shooting and strong inside play. Despite the setback, the Chargers continued to battle, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter and finishing the game with 32 rebounds and 17 points off turnovers.

Crandall shot 38.8 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from three-point range, moving the ball well with 14 assists on 26 made field goals. Defensively, the Chargers forced 16 turnovers and matched MSVU in second-chance points.

The Chargers will look to build on their strong first-half performance as they continue conference play and prepare for their next matchup.
