Chargers Fall in Playoff Positioning Battle, Rematch Set for Sunday

The Crandall Chargers saw their three-game win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling 90–72 to UNBSJ at the GFE.

With both teams already locked into playoff spots, the matchup carried significant implications for postseason positioning. UNBSJ improved to 11–4, while the Chargers moved to 6–9.

First-Half Battle

UNBSJ built an early cushion, leading 28–16 after the first quarter, but the Chargers responded with a strong second frame. Crandall outscored UNBSJ 25–22 in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 50–41 at halftime. 

The Chargers created extra opportunities through effort plays, finishing with 22 second-chance points and 19 points off turnovers.

UNBSJ Pulls Away

Despite the push, UNBSJ shot 47.9% from the field and connected on 11 three-pointers, extending the lead in the second half. A 48–36 rebounding advantage also helped the home side maintain control down the stretch.

Although the loss snapped Crandall's three-game winning streak, the Chargers remain focused as they prepare for a quick turnaround.

The two teams will rematch tomorrow in another crucial game that will help playoff seeding, giving the Chargers an immediate opportunity to respond heading into postseason play.
