MONCTON, NB - Crandall Chargers cap off the regular season with a 73-66 victory over UNBSJ Seawolves.
Saturday afternoon started off by honouring a trio of seniors in Mitch Webber, James French (Moncton, NB) and Brett Curtis (Harvey, NB), all of which are in the Bachelor of Education program at Crandall University.
The Seawolves came out hot, hoping to get their first win of the season, leading the Chargers by 10 points at the end of the first quarter, a lead they would hold until the midway point of the fourth quarter.
Ethan Szemerda was the stand-out player for UNBSJ leading the team with 19 points going 7-14 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the line while coming down with 14 total rebounds.
Crandall Chargers had three players each racking up 17 points Marc Hoffer (Moncton, NB) James French, and Devon Glenn (Woodstock, VA). Hoffer was shooting 54.5% from the field including a trio of buckets from beyond the arc.
The Chargers will conclude their regular season with a 12-6 record, putting them solidly into third place in the ACAA standings and will head to Fredericton for the championship tournament next weekend. Crandall is projected to face off with UKC on Friday during the quarter-final opening round. The two teams have met three times with Crandall taking two of three, dropping their last matchup by a single point.
