Chargers Win 81-67 Over Visiting Seawloves

MONCTON, NB - The Crandall Chargers Men's Basketball team win it 81-67 over the visiting UNBSJ Seawolves.

Wrapping up the regular season Crandall was able to get back into the win collum and will look to build upon this momentum as they will host MSVU wednesday evening.

To say the Seawolves were dealing with a short bench would be an understatement as the team was only able to travel with five healthy players. Though they were all forced to play the full 40 minutes they were a competitive bunch who played their hearts out. Crandall however still had to win to ensure they would host a playoff game and took over the game early outscoring their opponents 27-5 at the end of the first quarter.

With the game in hand Crandall was able to give some of their key starting players a well deserved rest while getting a longer look at some of the less experienced players.  Coming back after a long absence Gabriel Cormier took no time making his presence known racking up a game high 17 points with 4 buckets coming from beyond the arc. Colby Lawrence had a solid game taking advantage of the Seawolves in the paint with 12 points on the floor and a perfect 2-2 from the line while also coming down with 4 rebounds.

Zackery Miersch led the Seawolves in points scoring with 16 followed closely by Tanner Hoyt and Ethan Szemerda who each recorded 14. Austin Brun was all over the glass coming down with nearly 40% of all team rebounds with 13.

The Chargers will have a few days to gameplan for their postseason matchup against MSVU wednesday evening. The two teams have met twice this season with the visiting team winning in both cases. Crandall took their first meeting 90-76 on Halloween and UNBSJ won 89-62 last Saturday.
