Chargers Fall to St. Thomas in Tight Road Match
The Crandall Chargers were edged 1–0 by St. Thomas on September 28th in an away contest in Fredericton, battling through a defensively demanding match that remained within reach until halftime.
The lone goal of the match came in the 36th minute, when Ella Mercer scored unassisted to give St. Thomas a slim advantage. Crandall responded with increased pressure after the break, but was unable to find an equalizer despite improved possession and effort in the attacking third.
Crandall finished with five shots, while St. Thomas generated 18 shots over the course of the match. Isabella Walizadah delivered a standout performance in goal for the Chargers, recording six saves and keeping the match close throughout all 90 minutes. Defensively, Crandall remained organized and limited second-half damage, holding St. Thomas scoreless after the break.
The Chargers continued to press late, earning opportunities through Brianna Killam and Dominique LeClair, but were unable to convert as St. Thomas' back line held firm.
Despite the result, Crandall's defensive resilience and goalkeeping performance stood out in a tightly contested road matchup.
The Chargers will look to build on this effort as they prepare for their next game.
