HALIFAX, NS - UKC Blue Devils hand the Charges a 3-1 (25-17, 12-25, 25-20, 25-18) loss on Friday night to send Crandall into the break with a 1-8 record.
The Blue Devils opened the match with 5 point run, following that the two teams would trade points back and forth until the Chargers strung together a run of their own to bring it to 13-10 Blue Devils. Both teams looked good in the first set but another good string of points by UKC gave them the set 25-17.
Undeterred, the Chargers came into the second set ready to catch UKC on their heels. This time it was Crandall who were able to put together runs on points and did refused to allow the Blue Devils to get back to back points. Chargers ran away with the second set 25-12 to tie the game.
The Blue Devils were able to make the necessary adjustments and returned to form for the next two sets to dash the hopes of the Chargers, sealing the match with 25-20 and 25-18 scores to end it.
The Chargers 1-8 record does not showcase the true talent they have on the team. Janelle Blanchette sits second in the league with 2.84 kills per set and Melora Cook sits fifth on the list with 2.63. Setter, Amy LeBlang is top of the charts in assists per set with 7.37.
The Chargers next regular season game is not until January 15th 2022 as they will face off against the Dalhousie Rams (5-4). The Rams won the last meeting between the two teams 3-1.
