Moncton/Sackville, NB. - On Thursday evening the Crandall Chargers and Mount Allison Mounties participated in a crossover preseason event where the Women?s teams played at Crandall and the men travelled to Sackville. Across the simultaneously run games, the Mounties were victorious defeating the women 56-48 and the Men?s team going 83-66.
In Moncton the women faced off, the Mounties took an early lead opening the game with a nine point run. Crandall was able to answer back in the second quarter, going on a nine point run of their own and retaking the lead. Mount A. came out of the second half much like the start of the game, catching Crandall on their heels. The Chargers were sent to line a total of 33 free throws, scoring on 21. Kylee Balser led the Chargers with 15 points on the night.
Meanwhile in Sackville the men took to the court. The first quarter was tightly combated with the Mounties leading by a single point after ten minutes. The Chargers were unable to capitalize on the amount of times their shooters got to the line, ultimately scoring only 9/23 free throws. Where Crandall was able to showcase their will, forcing 17 turnovers on the night and scoring 15 points from said turnovers. The notable standout for Crandall was #6 Coly Lawrence who had 14 points, 5 rebounds and a steal in only 10 minutes on the court.
Both Women?s and Men?s teams will look to build and ready themselves prior to their season tipoff on Saturday, Oct. 30th against UKC.
