MEN'S SOCCER FALL IN ACAA SEMI-FINALS

The Holland College Hurricanes carried their undefeated streak through the Crandall University Chargers 5-0 in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association men’s semi-final action Saturday October, 25th.

Ibrahima Sanoh scored three goals for the Hurricanes. Jordan Fabri and Kyle Reade had the others.

The Hurricanes took no time getting on the board. Sanoh beat Chargers goalkeeper Dan Blanchet from just inside the 18 to grab a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.

Victor Frohmann had the best chance for the Chargers, going in on a partial breakaway and putting a shot on net from just inside the 40, but Hurricanes goalkeeper made the save.

In the 53rd minute, Dave Mugenga of the Chargers put a shot just off the crossbar, on a free kick.

But, things just got worse for the Chargers afterwards.

In the 54th minute, Frohmann was given a straight red card after his cleats caught a Hurricane defender in the ankle.

“We would have had to play a perfect game if we would of wanted to compete and actually win this game. They pressured us, we coughed it up and they scored,” said Chargers head coach Bryan Cawthra.

The men qualified for the 2014/15 ACAA playoffs in just their second year in the league.  This is very encouraging as the Chargers look to add pieces, mixed with returning players to climb the rankings next season.

Congratulations on a great season men!
