2014/15 ACAA SEASON BEGINS

2014/15 ACAA SEASON BEGINS

After an intense preseason schedule, the included exhibition games against UdeM and UMFK, the Chargers were eager to play in their home opener.  Sunday - September 7th the men's took the field to start the regular season against the 2013-14 season league champions MSVU.

The Chargers came out fast and furious, and were able to strike first.  As the Chargers 1st team ACAA all conference player, Dave Mugenga, was able to control a cross, cut it back inside the 18yd box, and finish it in the bottom corner.  Crandall was able to hold onto that lead until the 65th minute, when MSVU notched the tying goal on a cross.  Both teams shared chances, and in the 89th minute MSVU capitalized on a corner kick to spoil the home opener for the chargers in a 1-2 loss.

Sunday - September 14,
The Chargers knew they would be in for a battle against Holland College, as the Hurricanes came in ranked in the top 5 for CCAA rankings, combined with a 3-0 record. But as they did with MSVU - Crandall was able to start the game strong, and left at halftime tied 0-0.  It was early in the second half whendefender, Fred Agbozo, tapped in his first goal of the season, by finishing a corner kick to open the scoring.  Defensively the Chargers were giving Holland everything they could handle, in a very physical game. Holland's #7 Ibrah Sanoh was able to bring his team back in the game in the 53rd minute. The game remained 1-1 on the back of Chargers defending and an outstanding performance from keeper Dan Blanchet.

Chargers will look to build on this momentum as they head into UNBSJ for a midweek game, and then back at Crandall for two home games during the Crandall University 65th homecoming weekend.
